Civil Water Management Wins DfT Sustainability Award

We were delighted to attend the Connected Places Catapult 2025 Summit—a dynamic, progressive event held in the heart of London. It proved to be a real hotbed for collaboration and forward-thinking minds, bringing together leading voices across the transport, infrastructure, and technology sectors.
Celebrating Engineering, Sustainability and Active Travel
Civil Water Management was honoured to receive the Sustainability Award from the Department for Transport and Connected Places Catapult.
This distinguished award stands as a testament to our development of robust engineering solutions using our modular drainage system technology to deliver greener, smarter infrastructure to support active travel connectivity across the UK.
Presenting our project to the Department for Transport and an esteemed audience of transport specialists was a proud moment and a fitting conclusion to over a year of rewarding work on a truly ground-breaking project.
Engineering a First of a Kind No-Dig Cycle Route
The award-winning project involved the design and delivery of a no-dig cycle path— a first of a kind. The solution enabled a fully approved sustainable drainage strategy for approximately 2.5 km of Route 6 on the National Cycle Network. Civil Water Management are proud to have played a central role in enabling low-impact construction and long-term environmental resilience, without compromising on performance or safety.
The project benefited greatly through the excellent engagement of the communities of Castlethorpe and Wolverton, whose feedback was invaluable.
Collaboration at Its Best
Our sincere thanks go to the Department for Transport, David Peinturier and the team at Connected Places Catapult, the Rural Design Centre, Edge Innovation, GR Consult Ltd, and our valued supply chain collaborators: Rosehill Polymers Group, Sustrans, Milton Keynes City Council, and CIJO.
We would also like to extend our congratulations to the other businesses who took part, Alchera Technologies, BetaStreets, Intelligen, Mobilityways, Motocargo, UrbanTide, and You. Smart. Thing.
Exciting times ahead as we continue to shape the future of greener infrastructure in the UK and beyond.
